What Are Timeless Boy Names Explained
This index identifies Timeless boy names whose recorded usage shows unusually strong continuity across generations. These names are not classified simply because they are well known; they must demonstrate sustained historical presence together with meaningful recent usage.
A name qualifies only when it appears in at least 85% of its available historical years, averages at least 100 births per year across the full observation period, and still averages at least 50 births per year from 2021 through 2025. The combination is designed to distinguish genuinely persistent names from those that were historically common but have since disappeared from regular use.
Names such as James, John, Robert are included because their recorded birth histories meet all three statistical conditions. The classification therefore reflects measurable persistence in the underlying historical dataset rather than a subjective judgment that a name simply "feels" timeless.
For the complete definitions, observation periods, thresholds, and statistical rules used to determine Timeless names, see our Name Style Methodology.
