When I was younger I had a small disliking towards my name, but it was mostly because the pronunciation is quite different. Rather than Hai-Dee it’s pronounced Hey-Dee, and no one would pronounce the name right, usually only people who had English as a second language would pronounce my name right first try. As I grew older I learned to love the name and many people do as well and it has to do with the pronunciation being entirely different. Many people have even told me I’ve changed the way they see and say “Heidi” forever. My mom got my name from watching Heidi de las Montañas when she was younger and that’s how she had always heard it — Hey-Dee. That being said I think the regular pronunciation of Heidi is cute and short and Adelheid is beautiful, and the way mine is pronounced is unique and I love it.
