It just dawned on me that this is not the same name as Ricardo. Since both have the nickname "Ricky" in my head I just assumed they were the same name. One comes from Richard, the other from Henry/Heinrich. Fascinating.
I must say I like how this sounds better than Henry, though as a non-Hispanic I do not think I could get away with using it on my own son.
