I'm a Darby, female, born in 1943, USA. I love the name! Years ago I did a bit of research on it's origins and discovered that one of the meanings, in old Celtic, is freeborn, or more elaborately, born free of envy. I do believe I also saw that it is related to Jeremiah, but I do not remember the source. The English meaning is deer park. I am lucky to have married a man of Italian heritage who's name means vegetable farmer!
