My name is Alyce and my family pronounces it as if it's "Alice". It's an old family name for myself. My aunt's name was Alyce, so was my grandmother's and my great-great aunt. Not sure why anyone has to be so nasty about the pronunciation when my family has had this name for a long time and it's never been pronounced any other way among us. I was told it's old German b/c my mom's side are mostly German/Danish and it's just handed down.
I've met one other woman with the same spelling and she also pronounced it as "Alice".Lnrtc
No it's NOT Alice. It's not an alternative spelling for Alice. It is Alyce and pronounced Aleeese and it can also be spelt Alyse Elise. Why would you name your child Alice with ayinstead of anI'? You're just confusing people and undoing every Alyce in the world that has to correct people and tell them it is NOT ALICE! I love when people pronounce it properly the first time. It makes me think there are smart people out there that realize there must be a difference in pronunciation if it has ayin it.
Conclusion
In summary, the name Alyce holds timeless appeal, blending cultural significance with a unique charm. Whether chosen for its meaning or sound, Alyce remains a strong and enduring choice, cherished across generations and cultures.
