Gwin (with ani') is the name of Dustfinger's (male) pinemartin in Inkheart. I thought it sounded like a girl's name when I first heard it because it is similar to Gwen, but now I quite like it.

I know Gwyn is supposed to be a male name only, but I really only love Gwyn as a girl’s name. It’s so pretty and elegant for a girl, Gwyn. Same similarities with Gwen. I don’t see it as a boy’s name at all. Way too feminine sounding! Gwyn is such a girly name, it might be the middle name of my future daughter. I love it!

I think Gwyn would be a great feminine name as well as a masculine one. The main character in a novel I'm writing is called Gwyn (they are a male Snow White and Gwyn means "white" or "pure" like Snow). A name I would consider for a son or daughter.
