This name derives from the Latin “Sibylla”, which in turn derives from the Greek “Síbulla (Σίβυλλα) Síbylla (Σίβυλλα), meaning “prophetess, Sibyl”.
The Sibyls were oracular women believed to possess prophetic powers in ancient Greece.
