I love this name. Planning to use it as my daughter's middle name in a few months. I think it's great as a middle name because it would be a bit of a pain to constantly spell out so many letters if it was your first name.
The correct pronunciation is Sche-HARE-zade not Sche-HARE-za-dee (was mispronounced in Aladdin which has lead to a lot of people thinking it is the latter).Jittery_1364
I have heard this name pronounced both "sheh-hair-rah-ZAHD" and "sheh-hair-ah-ZAH-dee".

Lengthy, unusual, and beautiful. I love the Sch- and the pronunciation. I think it sounds very regal.

You know what, this name may be long, but it's awesome! And this is the spelling that is most familiar in English (due to Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade" musical suite in the 19th century).
Not many feminine names (that I know of) end in the D sound, which really sets it apart from even other long names. I've known two women (both from Pakistan) called Shahrazad - pronounced the same way (the regional accent creates the "missing" vowel between the H and R, which has to be added in the Westernized written version to make the same sound) - and it's altogether a beautiful name.
