B) From the Anglo-Saxon name “Æðelric”, composed of two Old High German and Ancient Germanic elements: “*aþalaz”, meaning “noble, nobleman, aristocratic, eminent, glorious, excellent” plus “*rīkijaz”, meaning “kingly, royal, noble, mighty, distinguished, powerful, rich”.
