  • Hey... much better than the way overused, way overrated "Amanda"
Though the teasing potential is still there sadly ):
    A-nan-duh
    Beautiful name though!

  • To me, it looks a lot like Amanda (although I know there's no connection between the two names), but, while I don't really completely know how to pronounce things in Indian, the way (I think) it's pronounced doesn't make me think of the name Amanda at all. It's actually very pretty. (And, for some random reason, the fact that it has three A's, one in the middle and two at each end, strikes me as interesting and, weirdly, slightly important somehow.)
Also, regarding the dog from A Swiftly Tilting Planet - this name means "happiness", and that was actually important symbolically. There was also a unicorn character named Gaudior, which is Latin for "more joy" - joy was a piece of thematic symbolism in that book. The fact that these two animals both appeared spontaneously at a time of great need and peril represented a need for joy and happiness to appear when it is most needed. Just thought I'd share that interesting literary tidbit.
