This name derives from the Hebrew “‘Aḇdōn / Avdón / ‛Ôbad”, meaning “servile, servant, worshiper”.

Abdon was the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, and was the twelfth Judge of Israel mentioned in the Book of Judges (Judges 12:13-15).
