This name derives from the Proto-Slavic “*duša”, Old East Slavic “duša / dousha (доуша / душа)”, meaning “soul, spirit (the spirit or essence of a person that is believed to live on after the person’s death)”.

The feast day, for the faithful of the Eastern Churches, is celebrated on the 1 November, also known as All Saints.

This is done in memory of St.Stephen Uros IV Dusan, Emperor of Serbia and Romania, and also his wife, Helen.
