Personal Meanings of the Name Tiffany

  • This is my birth name. I never liked it. I could never introduce myself confidently. I never enjoyed writing my name, saying it, or hearing it. I have almost ptsd-like symptoms whenever I hear someone say my full name; I always feel like I am in trouble. It is quite triggering, at age 30 I decided to do something about it: I have started asking to be called Anny, instead. It helps me to feel good about myself when someone says my name or when I introduce myself. Boys in elementary school would make fun of me and call me "tif-fanny". I asked them twenty years later why, and they said it was because they like me. So, I guess they were using my name as a cat-call down the school hallways at age 7... I interpreted it and carried it for twenty years as bullying. Family called me Tiffy, and I rather always liked that. Made me feel fluffy and cute and loved. But, I can't and have never been able to refer to myself as Tiffy. It is a pet name that my family calls me, that's it.

  • I came back to say this, because I feel like my comment on 07/05/2022 isn't good enough: Tiffany is definitely one of my most favorite girl names. When I was a (very) little boy, I thought that Tiffany sounded "stuffy" (meaning, I didn't care much for it)...but after middle school, I began to love it. I learned more about the history of Tiffany, which made me appreciate it more; it sounds modern, but has long-time usage. Besides of that, the name Tiffany isn't very common nowadays, so it would be an amazing choice. I love the legibility of this name on paper, the way it sounds aloud, and every aspect of Tiffany. I definitely recommend this warm and tender sounding name for your daughters!
