Salvatore is a cool name, but I don't think it suits boys under 20 years old. I like the nickname Salvo too.

I love it! Refined and strong at the same time, a good name.

I'm first generation Sicilian and have used my name proudly though not many pronounce it the proper way, sal-va-tor-eh. The Italians pronounce all the vowels and there's no such thing as a silent one to them. When I was a kid, I asked my mom what my name meant, she simply said Jesus Christ. To the old world Italian Catholics, Salvatore derives from the same roots as salvation and they equate salvation with Jesus Christ. So for a time there, I thought I was Jesus Christ. Being born on Christmas Eve didn't help matters either. I've learned to tone it down a bit as I got older.
