  • This could, in a way, be the French equivalent of Nancy. I believe it is pronounced similarly to Manon- so probably something like nee-NOn, with a very subtle n at the end. It seems like a lot of nicknames are becoming fashionable in France. In the 50's, -ette diminutives like josette were very popular. I personally am not a big fan of this. I don't know why, but it sounds masculine. Maybe because its similar to the Spanish wordniño', which means boy.
