This is an interesting name. I just stumbled upon this. It can come from Merlin or Marylyn? That's cool. I prefer Marylyn for girls though. This name sounds better for guys, the way I see it. It's unpopular too - which is a good sign! That means that there will not likely be three Marlyns at one school.
